What is a force?
A force is a pull or a push.
Examples of a force?
• Magnetic Force- attraction between the North and South Poles of a magnetic metal.
• Friction- two things rub together.
• Gravity- The attraction between two objects.
• Buoyancy- The force that makes things float.
Units of a force:
The units of a force is measured in Newton (N).
Some other units of force:
1 dyne = 10-5 N
1 kilogram - force (kgf) or kilopound (kp) = 9.80665 N = 1 metric slug
1 lbf = 32.174 poundals = 1 slug
1 kgf = 2.2046 lbf
Equation of a force:
F=M x A
Force = Mass (x) Acceleration
